Tips on Buying Men's ShirtsTips on Buying Men's Shirts

Men's shirts for every day
Whether you're looking for stylish men's dress shirts for the office or men's polo shirts for a casual weekend with friends, you need shirts that fit you well and also fit your personal style. Read on for tips on buying men's shirts for every occasion.

Buying Men's Shirts:

  1. Buy polo shirts for casual wear. While they are traditionally worn for golf and tennis, men's polo shirts are comfortable and versatile enough to wear with jeans or shorts for attending a sporting event, hanging out at home or going out to dinner with family. For a good fit, buy shirts that are loose enough in the sleeves and chest area so you can stretch and breathe easily. Striped polos are traditional and will give you a sporty look, but solid polos are also classic men's casual shirts and look great paired with a comfortable hoodie or blazer for extra warmth. Find men's shirts in flattering colors, such as navy blue, red and hunter green, for shirts that go well with everything.
  2. Stock up on quality dress shirts for work. If shirt-and-tie is the required dress for your office, a good collection of men's dress shirts is important. Since you'll be wearing men's white shirts most of the week for at least eight hours a day, purchase shirts that fit loosely in the neck area, armpits, chest and wrists. Make sure you can comfortably wear a tie and suit jacket over men's white shirts and look for colored and striped styles to dress up a bland wardrobe. For extra comfort at work, look for men's cotton shirts with stiff collars and cuffs. Wrinkle-resistant men's cotton shirts are also a good bet for the office.
  3. Purchase T-shirts for everyday wear. White and solid-colored men's T-shirts are perfect for lounging at home, working outside or going to a game or concert with friends. Find fitted men's T-shirts you can layer beneath button-ups or sweaters for a crisp look. Look for looser men's casual shirts you can pair with jeans, twill pants and sneakers. Men's short-sleeve shirts are also great for layering under blazers or hoodies for chilly days or nights. Look for vintage men's short-sleeve shirts with your favorite band on them to pair with classic jeans and an athletic jacket for a laid-back look.

Top 5 Men's Shoes

Guy in new shoes sitting in chair
You’re hitting gyms, hanging out at home, heading to work — and you need men’s shoes to go wherever you go. No matter what you spend your time doing, this guide will help you find the men’s footwear that’s comfortable and appropriate. Read on for the top 5 men’s shoes.
Popular Men’s Footwear:
1.
Athletic shoes. Even if you’re just playing football with friends or walking around town, you need a pair of men’s athletic shoes to keep you comfortable and let you move easily. Make sure you buy men’s athletic shoes with mesh uppers and durable rubber soles for traction and find specialized running shoes or walking shoes if you plan to jog or exercise frequently. This men’s footwear will protect your feet and ankles and give you the support you need.
2.
Casual shoes. Every guy needs a pair of men’s loafers or other easy-to-wear shoes for days at home or weekend outings. Look for men’s casual shoes made of canvas for a light summertime shoe and switch to men’s loafers and men’s leather shoes that slip on easily when the weather gets chilly. Men’s casual shoes lined with flannel or fleece are particularly nice for wintertime.
3.
Dress shoes. Spruce up your suit or nice trousers with a pair of men’s dress shoes. Whether you want patent leather men’s oxfords to wear with a tux at a wedding or stylish wingtips you can wear to the office, men’s dress shoes are versatile and necessary for many different occasions. Make sure you have simple, classic men’s oxfords or similar men’s leather shoes that are appropriate for work, church meetings, business dinners and other events.
4.
Sandals. Once summertime rolls around, you’ll want men’s sandals to wear with your shorts and swim trunks, especially when you’re on vacation. Comfortable slides and flip-flops are always a good choice for the beach, but you may also want men’s sandals made of mesh and rubber for a sporty fit you can wear while hiking or sightseeing.
5.
Boots. Stylish men’s boots are a great addition to many different outfits, and they don’t have to stay in the closet until wintertime, either. Look for simple leather or suede men’s boots that extend just past the ankles for a sophisticated look you can wear with dress pants to the office. Sturdy black boots with buckles and rugged detailing will look great with bootcut jeans and a button-up for a night out, too.

Tips on Buying Ladies' Shoes

woman excited about new shoes You’ve got a killer dress, beautiful jewelry and a gorgeous handbag: Now all you need is a great pair of ladies’ shoes to complete your outfit. With ladies’ dress shoes, ladies’ boots and other women’s shoes, the styles you want are right at your fingertips online. Read on for tips on selecting the best women’s shoes for all occasions.
Buying Ladies’ Shoes:
1.
Buy conservative shoes for work. The right heels can elongate your body and slim your legs and ankles. For a day at the office where you will be sitting and standing for long periods of time, you need low kitten heels or other similar ladies’ dress shoes that won’t put too much stress on your arches and toes. Buy stylish kitten heels in black or brown to complement your professional wardrobe, or find heels with a chunky wedge or platform that give your feet more support.
2.
Find comfortable shoes for the weekend. Women’s athletic shoes are designed with supportive, shock-absorbent soles that give your feet stability and cushioning. Look for styles with tough rubber soles that give you traction and grip, especially if you plan to walk or hike during the weekend. Buy women’s athletic shoes with versatile, feminine designs so you can wear them with shorts and jeans almost anywhere. For a less sporty look, buy women’s flats in bright colors and patterns that you can easily slip on whenever you need to run errands or head out of the house. Purchase women’s flats and similar ladies’ shoes for simple traveling shoes that pack well.
3.
If the boot fits, buy three extra pairs. Ladies’ boots can dress up every outfit and keep your feet and legs warm during the cooler months. Find a pair of boots with chunky heels to add height to your frame and add style to an ordinary skirt and blouse ensemble. Buy ladies’ boots with flat soles for a comfortable fit you can wear with both jeans and dresses, and find boots in neutral colors, such as black and brown, for styles that will complement your wardrobe.
4.
Select sandals and shoes for summer. Shop for women’s sandals you can wear with shorts, jeans and sundresses when the weather turns warm. Strappy styles and platforms are more formal, while flip flops and flat gladiator sandals are perfect for a casual outfit you can wear to a beach party or around town. Buy women’s sandals that flatter your feet and are comfortable enough to wear throughout long summer days. For a light hike, buy women’s casual shoes you can put on easily and carry with you when sandals don’t give you enough support. Look for women’s casual shoes made of breathable materials so you’ll stay comfortable, whatever your destination.

How to Keep Your Winter Coat Looking Like New

Woman in clean, white coat

Things You Need:

  • Lint roller or brush
  • Clothes shaver
  • Garment bags
  • Dry cleaning kit
  • Acid-free paper
  • Cedar hangers or cedar sachets
If you live in a cold climate, you need to prepare for the chilly season. There are many different types of winter coats, and you will want to be sure that they are properly taken care of. Many people like to replace their winter coats every year; however, if you have a classic style, you may want to wear your coat for several years. Whether you have a quilted down-filled coat, a parka or a wool coat, there are certain steps to follow when taking care of men's coats and women's coats to keep them looking like new.

Keeping Your Winter Coat Clean:

  1. If your winter coat is a wool blend or a wool-like fabric, start with a lint roller or brush. Wool coats pick up particles that these items can easily remove, such as human or pet hair and lint. Just roll the lint roller over the fabric or brush it with the lint brush. If you don't have either one of these tools, create a loop with some tape, keeping the sticky side out. Make the loop large enough to wrap around your hand loosely. You can then pick up particles and hair on women's coats or men's coats by rolling the tape along the fabric with your hand.
  2. Remove loose threads on your winter coat. Cutting these excess threads will help to minimize the lint that your coat picks up as well. Use the clothes shaver, which trims fuzz and lint from fabric, to remove loose threads and those hard-to-reach hair and lint particles from your pea coat or cashmere coat, especially when it has begun pilling.
  3. Cut the costs of dry-cleaning, which many winter coats require. To avoid those high-priced dry cleaning bills, you can purchase a dry-cleaning kit. These are very easy and convenient. Using the kit takes less time than washing a load of clothes. First, spot treat any visible stains on the coat with the included spot-treating solution. Next, place your coat and one of the towelettes in one of the bags included in the kit. Put it in the dryer and set the dryer to medium or high heat for about 30 minutes. Promptly remove the coat and hang it or lay it flat to dry, as it will be a little moist from the solution on the towelette. Long winter coats or rain coats may take a bit longer to dry.
  4. Use cedar hangers when hanging your winter jacket. Cedar keeps the moths away without the smell of mothballs. If you do not have cedar hangers, you can use cedar sachets. Line your closet with them or simply place one on the hanger with your coat. When storing your winter clothing for the season, you may also want to consider getting a garment bag to help keep lint, hair, dust and other particles from collecting on it. These come in a variety of sizes and are easy to find. Stuff coat sleeves with acid-free paper to help prevent permanent creases from forming during the off-season.

Best Gloves for Winter

Winter means it's time for cool temperatures, snow and ice -- and it's also time to pull out warm gloves and brave the cold. Whether smooth driving gloves, leather gloves or fingerless gloves fit your style best, you can find stylish gloves that keep your fingers warm in every situation. Read on to discover the best gloves for winter weather.

Winter Gloves:

  1. Buy driving gloves for chilly mornings. There's nothing worse than an ice-cold steering wheel, so why not buy driving gloves to protect your hands when you're driving to work or running errands? Women's driving gloves usually come in longer lengths to keep the hands and lower arms warm, while men's driving gloves are typically made from supple leather and extend to the wrists. Made of suede, cashmere or wool, as well as smooth leather, women's driving gloves are the perfect gift for a fashionable woman, especially around the holidays. Buy men's driving gloves for your father or grandfather when temperatures begin to drop.
  2. Find fingerless gloves for convenience. If you want warmth that won't compromise your fingers' mobility, buy fingerless gloves made of wool, fleece or leather. To protect the tips of your fingers when you aren't working with your hands, however, buy fingerless gloves that have an attached flap you can pull over chilly fingertips.
  3. Purchase leather gloves for sophistication. Leather gloves will not only protect your hands, but they will be stylish enough to wear everywhere, even to dressy occasions. Buy women's leather gloves in black or brown to match your favorite peacoat or look for gloves in red or camel to make a fashion statement. Men's leather gloves are perfect with a suit or dressy overcoat, but they can also be casual enough to wear with a parka on the weekends. Find women's leather gloves that are quilted or have a unique pattern to mix up your look. Shop for women's and men's leather gloves lined with fleece or wool to ensure the greatest warmth.
  4. Don't forget work gloves for everyday tasks. Purchase work gloves you can keep in your car's glove box or at home for doing chores outside or working on your car. Deerskin gloves are perfect for gripping wood or metal, because they are durable and withstand wear well. Look for work gloves lined with fleece or wool to keep your hands insulated and buy deerskin gloves as a gift for your husband, father or father-in-law, especially if he likes to work with his hands.
